Philippa Tomson is an award-winning television presenter, reporter and journalist. She can currently be seen and heard on ITV's flagship breakfast show Good Morning Britain. Since the show launched in April 2014, Pip has covered the programme’s Los Angeles and New York bureaus and reported live on various breaking stories around the UK.
Originally from York, Pip trained as a newspaper journalist with the Midlands based Express & Star at the age of 18. After working on its weekly and daily editions, Pip was appointed chief reporter of the Express & Star’s headline Wolverhampton edition before moving across into broadcasting.
In 2002, she joined ITV Central in Birmingham where she worked as a producer, reporter and presenter, regularly co-hosting the 6pm show with long-standing news anchor Bob Warman. In 2006, she went on to co present ITV’s North East Tonight and Border’s Lookaround that made her the region’s household name. Sh also decided to broaden her skill base by training as a weather presenter, a decision which ultimately led to her winning two Royal Television Society awards for Presenter of the Year.
Away from live news, Pip is an accomplished and experienced event host thanks to her warm, engaging personality and sense of humour. She has successfully hosted numerous events around the country for the likes of Sir Ian Botham, Steve Cram, Kevin Pietersen and many more.
In her spare time, Pip enjoys walking her two Tibetan Terriers and she loves a challenge. She's completed a tandem sky dive with the Red Devils, climbed Kilimanjaro, completed the Great North Run 5 times, bungee jumped over the River Tyne, and completed a cycling challenge in Kenya’s Maasai Mara for Steve Cram’s COCO charity.
